Porsche Panamera undergoes final test drives
The new Panamera is now undergoing its final test drives in Barcelona, Spain. The car is now getting the final tuning work done for its powertrain, dual-clutch transmission, as well as its chassis systems.
Porsche states that the car has already completed its initial powertrain performance testing got its its engine cooling and air-conditioning systems after being driven at high altitudes where oxygen levels are low, as well as in environments of extreme heat, all in the U.S.A.
The car was also tested in the low temperatures of Scandinavia, and on the gruelling roads of South Africa. But perhaps the most reassuring touch is the fact that it was also tested in the high humidity and start-stop traffic of Asia's megacities.
Porsche has revealed that the Panamera will be available with an upgraded engine range that includes four e-hybrid variants, which are set to get increased performance alongside greater electric-only range and charging speeds. These e-hybrid variants will utilise a new and more powerful electric motor that is integrated in the transmission housing of the new dual-clutch transmission. This motor will be fed by a 25.9kWh high voltage battery, which can be charged via alternating current at a speed of up to 11kW.
The car is also now set to feature two-valve shock absorbers as standard, expanding the range between its comfortable and high-performance chassis tuning.
