Porsche has revealed a one-off 911 GT3 RS designed as a tribute to the late Swiss Racing Driver Jo Siffert.
Siffert took the Porsche 917 it to its first victory 55 years ago in 1969 when he and Kurt Ahrens won the first international 1,000km race at the Osterreichring near Zeltweg, Austria, despite the car being initially considered difficult to drive.
The one-off Porsche 911 GT3 RS features the number '29' on its doors, bonnet, and rear wing, following after the Porsche 917 which Jo Siffert took to victory in 1969
Siffert was an extremely talented and charismatic racing driver and he had an intense passion for motorsport, contesting a total of 298 races over the course of 11 years.
The one-off 911 GT3 RS thus takes its inspiration from the 917 with which Jo Siffert and Kurt Ahrens drove to victory. Built as part of Porsche's Sonderwunsch programme, it comes finished in Pure White and sports Viper Green contrast sections on its front wings as well as selected sections of its front. Both these colours come from Porsche's Paint to Sample Programme.
The car also gets the middle section of its rear wing painted in Viper Green and sports the same number as appeared on the Porsche 917 that completed in the inaugural 1000km race. This '29' appears on the car's doors, bonnet, under the rear wing, as well as on the valve caps of the tyres. All these touches come alongside a striped design on the car's doors and side sections, also inspired by the 917.
The one-off car features Jo Siffert's signature on its B-pillar, and also features the silhouette of the Porsche 917 on the sideplates of its rear wing
The special 911 GT3 RS also features reproduced sponsor decals from the 917, created courtesy of the support of Bosch and Shell. The Bosch decal with the spark plug is positioned on the rear wheel arches, while the Shell decal appears below the rear window by the service flaps for oil and coolant.
The car also comes complete with satin black magnesium wheels that come with centre locks and sport the silhouette of the 917 - a touch also applied to the sideplates of the car's rear wing. A special badge inspired by the design of a helmet also features of the B-pillars of the one-off 911 GT3 RS alongside the name and signature of Jo Siffert.
This 911 GT3 RS will go on display at the Swiss Porsche centres through the month of August 2024 before heading to a trade fair in Zurich where one buyer from a pool of interested parties will be selected and given the opportunity to purchase the car.
