Porsche to fit flat-four engines into Boxster and Cayman

For years, there have been speculations that Porsche - a sports carmaker renowned for its flat-six 911s - will start fitting four-cylinder units for its entry-level models. And this may come true in the near future.
Based on a similar architecture as the flat-six units, the four-cylinder engines will help save weight without compromising on its performance.
Chief Executive Officer of Porsche AG, Matthias Muller, shared that the new unit can churn out as much as 395bhp - significantly more than the 340bhp in the latest Cayman GTS.
It is anyone's guess if the new flat-fours will find their way into the 911s, although it is not the first time to see Porsche fitting four-cylinder engines on their sports cars (think 924, 944 968, etc).
