To mark its 25th anniversary, Porsche will launch a new 911 GT3 and, for the first time in the model's history, in two versions concurrently: With, and without the Touring package.
The car will relaunch with an expanded lightweight strategy, a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre boxer engine with 375kW (503bhp) and 450Nm, and either a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (PDK) or six-speed GT manual transmission, with both gearbox options set to be available with the Touring package too.
With the PDK, the car is able to go from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 311km/h. With the manual transmission, the car goes from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds and hits a top speed of 313km/h.
The new model is lighter than its predecessor, with lightweight aluminium wheels (lighter magnesium wheels are available with the Weissach or Leichtbau package) and a new 40ah lithium-ion lightweight battery contributing to its lightest configuration.
As mentioned earlier, Porsche's popular Touring package will be available on the GT3 - right from its market launch for the first time - which will see several changes to its features such as the fixed wing being replaced with an extendable rear spoiler.
The new models have a sharpened design in the front and rear as well as improved aerodynamics. Both variants sport a re-contoured front diffuser, improved spoiler lip shape with angled sideplates, and modified fins on the underbody to increase downforce and optimise the air flow.
In addition, its revamped Matrix LED headlights remove the need for additional lights by combining all the light functions of the car.
A new lightweight sports bucket seat with a folding backrest is also available as an option in the new 911 GT3. Part of the headrest padding can be removed for better ergonomics for drivers wearing helmets.
Another treat for drivers? Since 'Start/Stop' buttons are rather standard-fare, the new GT3 still gets a more conventional rotary ignition switch instead.
The 911 GT3 with Touring package also comes with a rear seat system option for the first time, allowing the car to be customised to the wishes of its owner. Porsche claims that the steering feels better on winding country roads, with the shorter gear ratio greatly improving driving pleasure.
In Singapore, prices for both variants will be announced at a later date. Interested customers should check the Porsche Singapore website for the latest information on pricing and technical specifications.
