Intrigued by the Dongfeng Box - one of the latest Chinese entrants to join the growing EV-market in Singapore? Well, here's a quick look at what else its parent company, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co. Ltd, is lining up for international markets out of China.
At the recently-concluded Paris Motor Show 2024, the state-owned Chinese auto manufacturer unveiled not just one, but four new models, which incidentally celebrated their inaugural overseas debuts.
And quite the lineup it was too. Taking a stand in Paris were the Dongfeng Friday, a pure-electric SUV; the Dongfeng U-Tour, a hybrid MPV; as well as the Dongfeng Forthing V9, described by the firm as its flagship luxury MPV, set to take the fight to the likes of the DENZA D9 and Zeekr 009.
But the indisputable jewel of the quartet was the Dongfeng Forthing S7: A fully electric luxury sedan, measuring nearly 4.9-metres wide and over 1.9-metres wide, and with a generous wheelbase of more than 2.9-metres.
Built atop of a dedicated electric platform, the Forthing S7 can travel up to 550km on a full charge - and it appears that Dongfeng was keen to put its road-tripping capabilities to the prior to the Paris Motor Show.
Embarking from Horgos Port in Xinjiang, China, the electric sedan successfully undertook an arduous journey across the Eurasian continent, timed perfectly for it arrive right in time in Paris for the Show. Its capabilities were apparently recognised by a senior vehicle evaluation expert from CATARC Europe Testing and Certification gmbH, who recognised it as "a testament to the strength and innovation of Chinese manufacturing".
No further details are available at the moment about what Dongfeng is concretely laying out internationally - much less for Singapore. Still, at the Paris Motor Show, Lin Changbo, General Manager of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co. Ltd, promised that more would be on the way for the global market, stating that the company "will continue to advance electrification and intelligence".
