The 2026 Singapore Motor Show hosted the debut of dozens of new models, but equally impressive were some of the brands' showcases. Case in point: The Concept AMG GT XX, which was given the audacious goal of travelling around the world in eight days.
Mercedes-Benz, however, didn't just showcase a replica. The brand brought the actual record-breaking model - complete with its 'battle scars' - to the Suntec Convention Centre.
Built on the upcoming high-performance AMG.EA architecture set to enter production this year, this concept shattered no fewer than 25 long-distance records in an endurance test on Italy's Nardo test track that showed the abilities of the AMG electric drivetrain.
Indeed, the AMG GT XX beat its own internal target by taking seven days, 13 hours, 24 minutes and seven seconds to cover 40,075km. That's the equivalent of the earth's circumference at the equator.
It also covered 5,479km - the longest distance ever covered by an EV in 24 hours. That saw the Concept averaging 300km/h, surpassing the previous record by 38%.
Powering the car are three axial-flux motors that deliver over 1,000kW (1,341bhp). Feeding these are a high-performance battery with direct cooling that enable an average charging power of over 850kW at 1,000 amperes.
Mercedes-AMG says these results prove the exceptional performance of its next-generation electric architecture under extreme conditions. It also offers insights into the upcoming four-door series production sports car from the brand.
