Renault Duster to be produced and sold in India
23 Jun 2011|3,388 views
The Duster is sold under the Dacia brand in Europe, but Renault has recently announced that it will offer the Duster under its own name in markets such as Argentina and Brazil. The French carmaker has now added India to the list of countries that will offer the budget off-roader. The Indian version of the Duster will be produced in right-hand-drive, at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai, India. The Indian-made Duster will be available for sale in the second half of 2012, and right-hand-drive versions are also expected to be sold in the UK from next year as well.
The Duster is part of Renault’s plans to expand its global presence together with its partner Nissan, especially in rapidly growing economies like India. Aside from the Duster, Renault will also produce the Fluence sedan, Koleos SUV and two more models at its Chennai factory by the end of 2012. The French carmaker will also expand its dealer network in India, from 14 currently, to 40 by the end of this year, and 90 at the end of 2012, covering 55 cities and 90% of the Indian car market.
