Douai plant hits 100,000th Renault 5 E-Tech EV milestone
05 Dec 2025|53 views
Renault's Ampere ElectriCity complex in Douai has reached a historic milestone, with a 100,000 Renault 5 E-Tech vehicles built in just 15 months. According to the brand, around 900 vehicles roll off the assembly line daily, of which two-thirds are 5 E-Tech EVs.
This event is also a celebration of the "Made in France" label. Last year, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric also received Origine France Garantie certification.
The decision to build most of its EVs at the Ampere ElectriCity complex is due to most of Renault's suppliers (including the Cleon plant for electric motors) being within a 300km radius and most of its customers within a 1,000km radius.
The complex also includes the Maubeuge plant, assembling Renault 4 E-Tech electric, and the Ruitz plant, specialising in the manufacture of pinions for hybrid and electric gearboxes, and also in the production of battery cases through the Minth Electricity Technology joint venture.
The Renault 5 E-Tech is said to have enjoyed a host of recent successes and has recently embarked on its journey beyond Europe, debuting in countries such as Turkey and Morocco. Additional markets are set to follow in 2026.
