Rolls Royce reveals new...picnic basket

The Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé is a display of mechanical wonder™and serious wealth.

From the disappearing hood ornament, to the (surprising) sound suppression of its Kashmir lined cloth top, the Drophead is loaded with exquisite details.

Take for instance, the umbrella nooks in the door jambs. There's a dryer system in there™to dry your wet umbrella. Then there are the double R centre caps on the wheels™that actually remain level as the wheel turns.

Now, a new "detail" has been added to the options list. It's called a "Bespoke Picnic Set".

The picnic™cabinet is crafted from oiled teak wood, and Saddle tan leather from Germany. It has fold-out, Indian rosewood picnic tables, a pull-out cutting board with an embossed Rolls logo and embedded magnets (to hold His/Her Majesty's knives in place), metal dishes to hold warm food, custom cutlery by David Mellor, linen napkins, and hand-blown Champaign flutes.

Of course, the picnic set can be customized to match your car, your suit, or your prized poodle.

It took Rolls Royce a full year to design this picnic set. As the design manager put it; "The creation of a bespoke picnic set was always a question of entertainment, not just functionality. You choose to eat outdoors and you want to do it in an entertaining and elegant way, to make an occasion of the experience. Our design encapsulates that approach."
