Rolls-Royce seals time capsule to mark Goodwood extension
19 Mar 2025|50 views
Rolls-Royce is storing a few items from its interns, graduates, and apprentices into a time capsule as part of the construction project that will see its Goodwood site being expanded.
This time capsule will not, however, be buried on-site, but will instead act as a point of interest for staff and visitors alike in the reception area at the Home of Rolls-Royce, before it is moved into its permanent space in the new facility.
The exact contents of this time capsule will stay a secret until it is opened, although Rolls-Royce does state that some of them have been chosen to create a historical record, on the basis that they will be obsolete by the time the capsule is opened in 2054, the year in which the marque will celebrate its 150th anniversary, while the others have been chosen because they will remain in daily use in the next 30 years, underlining the continuity and heritage that make Rolls-Royce, its craftsmanship and its products unique.
The firm hopes that the capsule will spark questions and conversations in the same way as the 'Cabinet of Curiosities', installed in each Rolls-Royce Private Office around the world, provides inspiration for the bespoke commissions of its clients.
