Seat achieves best sustainability results in its history

Seat has announced that it has achieved its best sustainability results in its history in the year 2023 thanks to the effectiveness of its strategic projects in the environmental, social and governance areas.
The firm states that it has reduced the environmental impact of its facilities in Martorell, Barcelona and El Prat by 53% since 2010. This comes as a product of a reduction in energy consumption of 33%, thanks to the implementation of efficiency measures and organisational improvements. Seat states that all its electrical consumption has come from renewable sources since 2012.

The firm has also seen a 69% reduction in carbon emissions since 2010, and states that it is on target with the Volkswagen Group's decarbonisation targets, by being set to achieve carbon neutrality in all its facilities by 2040 and for the entire company by 2050. Seat has additionally reduced the water consumption needed to produce a car at its facilities by 45% since 2010.
In addition to these environmental measures, Seat has also put in place a host of wellness and diversity programmes for its staff which include a new Equality Plan that has seen more than 60 measures to promote and consolidate diversity and inclusion, including a new protocol against sexual harassment and harassment based on sex, gender orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression in the workplace.
The firm has additionally conducted more than 159,000 health activities in 2023, in addition to reaching the lowest accident rate in its history for the second consecutive year.
Seat is set to get a total of 39,000 solar panels stretching across a surface area of 233,000sqm in Martorell, El Prat and Barcelona come 2025. These panels will allow it to generate up to 29GW/h of energy, tripling the firm's renewable energy self-generation capacity. The firm also recently saw the installation of the Volkswagen Group's first 100% electric paint drying oven in Martorell, which allows savings of up to 2,500 tonnes of CO2 per year.
