Six new City Direct bus services to roll out next year

From the first half of 2014, six new bus services that bring commuters from housing estates to the Central Business District (CBD) via expressways will be launched.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement that six contracts has been awarded to five private bus operators. The new bus services, named "City Direct", will operate from Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok/Hillview, Jurong East, Sembawang, Sengkang and West Coast during the morning peak period and perform the return trip during the evenin peak.
The LTA added that with lesser stops and use of expressways, journey times of these services will be relatively shorter.
Of the nine City Direct services tendered in June, three (Bedok, Eunos and Hougang) were not awarded as the bids were not compliant with the tender requirements. These services are expected to be re-tendered by end of this month.
