Skoda clinched the Super 2000 World Rally Champipnship title with a win at the RACC Rally of Spain at the hands of Juho Hanninen and Mikko Markkula, and the title marks the first time the 110-year-old Czech carmaker has won a rallying title in its history.Hanninen and Markkula completed the 18 stages and 406.5km of tarmac and gravel of the RACC Rally of Spain, the longest event of the Super 2000 World Rally Championship calendar, over three days, and finished first in their class and tenth overall to win the title, ahead of Estonian rival Ott Tanak, who retired on the first day.
“This is a perfect day for all of us and an excellent achievement, one of the milestones of my career”, said Hanninen, and the Finn added, “Everything worked perfectly and, although we didn’t have to take risks, we were at the head of the pack throughout this rally. I wish to thank all those who’ve been helping us on our way to this achievement.”
