Skoda offers new Pay to Fuel service in Europe

Skoda has announced that its drivers can also now pay for fuel via their car's infotainment system, after Mercedes-Benz rolled out the same technology just one month ago in Germany.

Skoda's service is currently available in Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, while Portugal and Spain will also soon get the new feature. Skoda states that it also plans to launch the service in the Czech Republic.

The service will allow owners of Skoda's combustion models equipped with an up-to-date Amundsen or Columbus infotainment system with a touchscreen of 9.2 inches or larger, as well as an active Skoda Connect account with the Remote Access feature enabled, to use the MySkoda smartphone app to pay for their fuel. After refuelling, the amount of fuel is confirmed on the infotainment screen and the payment is processed via debit or credit card. The driver then receives a transaction notification in the MySkoda app and on the vehicle screen and can pull away.

The service is provided in collaboration with Mastercard, Parkopedia and German FinTech company ryd.
