Skoda has revealed the first details of the new Superb, just days after it revealed the first sketches of the updated Scala and Kamiq.
The new Superb will be available both as a liftback as well as an estate. Skoda states that the new Superb will get more dynamic lights both at the front and the rear, with the head lights set to be available as LED Matrix items, complete with a coloured crystalline element that evokes coloured crystal glass.
The taillights are said to be more slender than before, and complete with crystalline elements to amplify their three-dimensional appearance.
The cabin of the new Superb, meanwhile, will get a 12.9-inch infotainment display. The gearshift lever here has been moved to the steering column, allowing the centre console to now offer a clean and uncluttered look.
Skoda states that the new Superb will offer more head room than before, while boot space now reaches a total of 645 litres, or 690 litres if you opt for the estate. The current generation holds a total of 625 litres at the rear if you opt for the liftback.
Petrol-powered options to be for this Superb include a 1.5-litre engine that produces 148bhp, as well as two 2.0-litre units producing 201bhp and 261bhp. These engines will come paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
A new plug-in hybrid drivetrain is also available, which utilises 1.5-litre engine supported by an electric motor that allows the drivetrain to produce a system total of 201bhp. Compared to the outgoing plug-in hybrid, this model will offer an electric-only range of 100km, thanks to an increase in battery capacity from 12.7kWh to 25.7kWh. This new plug-in hybrid Superb can also hit a maximum charging speed of 11kW if plugged into an alternating current source, and can be charged at 50kW if connected to a direct current charger.
The new Skoda Superb is set to make its global premiere come November 2023.
