Skoda to support Singapore Cycling Federation for third year

For the third consecutive year, Skoda Singapore is digging back again into its past, and stepping up once more as the official automotive partner for the Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF). The Federation was established in 1958, and serves as the national governing body for cycling in Singapore.
For the uninitiated, the Czech firm actually started life as a bicycle manufacturer in 1895. It has since gone on to engage in various cycling sponsorships around the world, including the world renowned Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España, and the Czech Cycling Tour. Skoda says the partnerships evince its "unwavering commitment to the cycling community".
As a little refresher on home ground, in March this year, Shimano Singapore celebrated 50 year of bicycle component manufacturing in Singapore with the purchase of a new Octavia Combi, which was praised by the firm for its hauling capacity and specialised bike rack.
As to how Skoda Singapore's role as the SCF's official automotive partner will take shape, the brand is fielding two very special models to serve as support cars for the Federation.
The Octavia RS, as the Commissaire car, will lead the pack through the SCF's upcoming calendar of events. Meanwhile, Skoda's first ever performance SUV, the Kodiaq RS, has been designated as the safety car.
Skoda says the cars' exceptional performance, reliability, and safety features make them well-suited as support cars for cycling races. The two cars will also provide logistical assistance to the Federation, in addition to their main roles.
Besides providing the cars themselves, Skoda Centre Singapore is also set to become a race kit collection base for the Federation's various races.
The SCF's stacked schedule of events is set to begin very soon across the border, with the OCBC National Championship Mountain Bike, taking place on 22 and 23 July 2023 at Sarimbun Scout Camp.
Thereafter, the events will return to our shores with the OCBC National Championship Team Time Trial on 6 August 2023 at Tanah Merah Coast Road. 2023 will then be capped with the OCBC National Championship Individual Time Trial on 3 September 2023, also at Tanah Merah Coast Road.
Skoda Singapore hopes that its collaborative efforts with the Federation will build towards the growth and development of cycling in Singapore. Speaking on the news, Dr Kurt Leitner, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Singapore, declared, "Together, we aim to create memorable experiences for cyclists and inspire a greater love for the sport."
