Heavy traffic towards Singapore was observed on Saturday at both Tuas and Woodlands checkpoints. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) webcams showed a beeline of cars queuing to come into Singapore. Meanwhile, traffic bound for Johor on the opposite lane was light.
There has been congestion on the Causeway after news of a Malaysian motorist who drove through the customs without authorisation broke on Tuesday.
The congestion is caused by stricter checks imposed by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority. As the incident coincides with the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays, traffic at the Causeway is expected to be heavier.
