Cycle & Carriage Singapore has announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Smart to bring in the Smart #1 to Singapore by the first half of 2024.
Smart returned under the international spotlight in 2019 after Mercedes-Benz announced that the marque would be revitalised in collaboration with Chinese automaker Geely. The firm has since revealed the Smart Concept 1 in 2021, the series-production #1 all-electric crossover in April 2022, as well as the all-electric smart #3 sports utility coupe in April 2023.
The Smart #1 that is headed to Singapore measures in at just 4,270mm long and 1,822mm wide (making it 27mm shorter and exactly the same width as the outgoing MINI Countryman). The car is offered in other markets with a total power output of 268bhp while offering peak torque of 343Nm, allowing it to reach a top speed of 180km/h.
This power will come supplied via a 66kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery which allows the Smart #1 to offer a WLTP range of 440km. The car also sports a 12.8-inch infotainment screen and a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster in its cabin.
The new Smart showroom will be housed on level 3 of the Mercedes-Benz Centre, located at 301 Alexandra Road. The new showroom is expected to be ready by the third quarter of 2024. However, Cycle & Carriage states that those interested in the Smart #1 will be able to see the car and perform test drives via roving roadshows that will be hosted throughout Singapore after its launch.
