Smart, now co-managed by Mercedes-Benz and Geely, has revealed a new #3 at the Shanghai Auto Show, one year after it revealed its new #1 all-electric crossover.
The Smart #3 takes the form of a compact sports utility coupe, complete with athletic curves which the firm states enhance its aerodynamic performance.
The car also has retained the 'shark nose' front shape and A-shaped wide grille as seen on the #1, however, the #3 gets more pronounced side intakes, a completely black front grille, as well as what looks like a scoop on its bonnet to differentiate it from its stablemate.
At the rear of the Smart #3, a gently sloping roof gives the car its fastback silhouette complete with a discreet roof. The rear bumper of the Smart #3 also differs from that utilised in the #1.
No precise details of the car are available as yet, however, the Smart #3 is expected to sport dimensions that will only come close to those of the Mercedes-Benz EQA. The Smart #3 is also likely to use the same 268bhp electric motor that generates a peak torque of 343Nm to power its rear wheels as seen in the Smart #1.
What has been confirmed, however, is the fact that the cabin of the Smart #3 will utilise a 12.8-inch centrally-mounted screen, multi-coloured ambient lighting, as well as a 13-speaker Beats audio system.
Smart states that it will reveal more details on the new smart #3 for the European market at a later stage. Market launch of the Smart #3 in Europe is currently scheduled for early 2024.
