Skoda introduces the latest edition of its bestseller, the Octavia, as it celebrates the 60th anniversary of its start of production.
At 4,689mm, the fourth generation Skoda Octavia Combi is 22mm longer than its predecessor, and its width has grown by 15mm to 1,829mm, while the hatchback's length has increased by 19mm to 4,689mm and by 15mm in width, taking it to 1,829mm.
At the front, narrower front head lights and the taillights now use LED technology, while the top-of-the-range version is equipped with full LED Matrix head lights.
The new Skoda Octavia also continues the tradition of offering generous room. Rear passengers will enjoy an even more luxurious level of kneeroom than before, at 78mm, while the boot capacity, which is the largest in the segment, has increased to 640 litres in the Combi and 600 litres in the hatchback.
The new car will also feature a head-up display, and Skoda's new infotainment system will offer optional streaming services for radio and TV as well as completely cable-free smartphone connection using wireless SmartLink+ technology.
The new Skoda Octavia will be offered with modern diesel TDI and petrol TSI engines as well as particularly eco-friendly compressed natural gas and plug-in hybrid variants.
Mild-hybrid technology is also available for the first time from Skoda, with the turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-litre TSI producing 108bhp and the turbocharged four-cylinder 1.5-litre TSI producing 148bhp both making use of a 48V belt-driven starter motor and a 48V lithium-ion battery.
A turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI with a power output of 187bhp will be exclusively available with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG. All TSIs are fitted with a petrol particulate filter.
