The 26th edition of the Race of Champions 2013 (ROC) event had entrants like seven time world champion, Michael Schumacher and nine time Le Mans 24 Hours winner, Tom Kristensen, along with 2013 WRC Champion, Sebastien Ogier and Felix Baumgartner - the man who jumped from the edge of space and broke the speed of sound - among others.
However the event has been cancelled, and indefinitely postponed, by the Sports Authority of Thailand due to intensified anti-government protests on the streets of Bangkok over the weekend. The event was scheduled to take place in Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium. Four people have died in the protests after a fresh wave of clashes broke out on Monday as protestors attempted to storm the Prime Minister's office.
"Our thoughts are with the Thai people during this difficult period and we wish that a peaceful solution will soon be found. The Race Of Champions has been held all over the world for 25 consecutive years and we are currently looking at options of repeating the success of last year's event in Bangkok on another date", read a statement on the ROC's website.
