STB calls study on traffic at Marina Bay Cruise Centre

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has called a tender to study traffic around the Marina Bay Cruise Centre in the aim to minimise congestions when cruise ships dock at the same time.
The study will be conducted from next month, and will survey the traffic, assess the effectiveness of traffic controls and suggest improvements.
In April, two large cruise ships, which can ferry more than 5,000 passengers in total, called at the same time. As such, there was heavy congestion, with a bottleneck of vehicles waiting for passengers or trying to enter the cruise centre, causing jams and delays along surrounding roads.
The study aims to address such problems, and a final report will be submitted by March next year.
