Subaru BRZ Concept STI on display at the Los Angeles Motor Show

The BRZ was developed jointly with Toyota, and is twinned with the upcoming Toyota FT-86 coupe and its Scion FR-S equivalent. All three models share the same rear-wheel-drive platform and same mechanics, such as the Subaru-sourced 2.0-litre flat-four engine upgraded with Toyota’s D-4S direct injection technology.A six speed manual gearbox will transfer power to the rear wheels, although Subaru has not confirmed as to whether the BRZ will have the six-speed automatic transmission that Toyota will fit in the FT-86 coupe.
The BRZ looks similar to the FT-86 with the exception of some minor styling details, but the show car in Los Angeles was fitted with a number of parts from Subaru’s STI catalogue, such as the aero kit that with a new lower front spoiler and a large rear wing along with a carbon-fibre roof.
The prototype was finished in the traditional Subaru STI blue paint scheme while it also features 18-inch multi spoke alloy wheels dressed in high-performance tyres size 215/45R18 at the front and 225/45R18 at the rear.
