Subaru details the BRZ Coupe

The BRZ is identical to the Toyota GT 86, except for minor differences, such as the re-sculptured front bumper, the alloy wheel designs, the fender trims and the tail lamp graphics. The interior too is expected to be similar to the Toyota version.
Under the bonnet, both cars also share the same powertrain, with the BRZ and GT 86 both having a 2.0-litre flat-four engine developed by Subaru, and featuring Toyota’s D-4S direct injection and port injection technology. The unit produces 200bhp and 205Nm of torque.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox with a short stroke shift lever or an optional six-speed automatic with paddle shifts on the steering wheel, while the BRZ also gets a specially tuned electronic stability control. The basic model will ride on 17-inch wheels wrapped around 215/45R17 tyres.
The BRZ was shown as a concept at the recent Los Angeles Motor Show, and that car featured an STI aerodynamic kit with large spoiler and carbon fibre parts. The production version loses the aggressive parts, but they are expected to be offered as an option through Subaru’s STI performance division.
