Subaru reveals details of new WRX TR

Subaru has revealed the specification of its WRX TR.
The 'TR' name was formerly used to denote a 'Tuner Ready' model of the WRX that was offered in the U.S.A which came with a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine but was offered without many accessories such as the rear spoiler and other aerodynamic pieces, which those keen on modifying their cars would replace with aftermarket accessories.
This new WRX TR carries on this tradition, although the present car now utilises a 2.4-litre unit that delivers a total of 267bhp and 350Nm of torque. This engine is paired with the firm's symmetrical all-wheel drive technology. Subaru fans will be pleased to note that between these two pieces of technology, is a six-speed manual transmission. Active Torque Vectoring is also standard across the model line.
Stopping power for the car, meanwhile, will come from a Brembo braking system that utilises red six-piston callipers at the front, red two-piston callipers at the rear, as well as larger pads and rotors and a larger brake master cylinder. Subaru states the system will offer enhanced stopping power, better fade resistance and raised pedal feel.
The WRX TR also gets stiffer springs and revised damping rates alongside a retuned steering rack. Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres wrap 19-inch wheels as standard.
On the outside, the WRX TR continues to build on the wide-body design of the WRX. The car gets Subaru's signature hexagonal grille, alongside a compact head light design and a broad front hood scoop. The car also comes with a roof-mounted shark fin antenna (finished in matching body colour), while the rear deck lid sports a low-profile rear spoiler (also matching the exterior body colour).
In the cabin, top-tier variants of the TR will come with Recaro seats wrapped in black and grey Ultrasuede with contrasting red stitching. The firm's 11.6-inch Starlink infotainment system, meanwhile, comes as standard on the TR.
The Subaru WRX TR will reach retailers in the U.S.A by the first quarter of 2024.
