Subaru of America, Inc. has revealed the all-new Forester at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The SUV has received a new exterior that builds on the rugged look of its predecessors. Up front, the car comes with bold and sizeable grille, supported at either side by LED head lights, said to produce an integrated shield effect. This Subaru Forester also sports the firm's new star cluster emblem.
Along the sides, the Forester gets bold shoulder lines as well as prominent wheel arches to highlight its adventure-ready capability – a fact also pointed to by its undergurads at the front, side, and rear. The SUV also now gets an air outlet at the trailing edge of the front wheel opening, which reduces lift on the front tyres to improve driving stability at speed.
In the cabin, the Subaru Forester comes with the Subaru Starlink infotainment system, housed within dual 7.0-inch touchscreens. The Subaru Starlink 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system is also available for the Forester, which comes equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
Subaru also states that the front seats of the Forester now feature slimmed-down shoulder areas for better visibility and access to the rear seats. The cabin is also said to be quieter than before, thanks to a concentrated effort on sound dampening.
All these sit atop an enhanced Subaru Global Platform which is said to utilise stronger welding techniques and additional structural adhesive for a 10% increase in torsional rigidity.
This new Subaru Forester is offered in the U.S.A with a 2.5-litre boxer engine that delivers 178bhp and 241Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a continuously variable transmission as well as the firm's symmetrical all-wheel drive system. The Forester also comes with the latest version of the firm's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which is said to operated more smoothly and quickly and under a greater range of conditions than prior versions.
The Forester is said to have been one of the bestselling Subaru vehicles for nearly 30 years, with more than 2.6 million examples sold in the U.S.A alone.
