The Japanese carmaker says that the five-door Swift EV Hybrid can travel a distance of around 30 kilometres pure-electric mode, before the petrol engine kicks in to recharge the car's batteries. Suzuki has not yet released any more details on the powertrain.
The styling changes over the regular Swift include bespoke head- and tail-lamps, a redesigned front grille and bumper assembly, aerodynamic wheel covers, and a new instrument panel and centre console. The car's battery is located in the boot.
Based on the latest generation of the Swift supermini, the Swift EV Hybrid concept makes use of a similar powertrain setup to the Chevrolet Volt, which features a range-extender petrol engine. The Swift EV Hybrid Concept will be one of three concept cars by Suzuki at the Tokyo Motor Show.
