The fourth generation of Suzuki's bestselling compact hatch returns with a refreshed exterior that sees it gain a new piano-black grille, and new head lights and new three-dimensional combination tail lamps.
The fourth-generation Suzuki Swift comes with an overhauled interior that includes dual grey and black tones, a modern instrument cluster, and a new 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support
Sticking to its tried-and-tested formula of promising lots of manoeuvrability and ease of living with, while offering a surprising amount of space for its size, the new Swift nonetheless takes a step into a new era with its refreshed cabin. Highlights include its new dual-tone interior, a new instrument cluster, and a new 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen which offers wireless CarPlay and wired Android Auto connectivity.
As with before, the car also comes with a 1.2-litre mild hybrid engine, which promises pep and fuel economy in equal measure. True to its fun-loving identity, however, the new Swift is offered in fresh colours such as Cool Yellow Metallic, while a new candy-like finish has also been given to older favourites including the Burning Red Pearl Metallic. (You'll find the Swift in both of these colours at Bukit Panjang Plaza.)
On the note of colours, buyers should be delighted to know that Champion Motors is extending special 'Colour Promotions' of up to $3,000 for units finished in specific paintcoats at the Show.
Mild hybrid tech isn’t just limited to the Swift, but to its family-friendlier larger sibling: The Suzuki S-Cross.
With its mild hybrid turbocharged powertrain, the S-Cross blends pep and efficiency in equal measure
Pop the bonnet of the S-Cross open, and one will find a turbocharged mild hybrid 1.4-litre engine that puts out a healthy 127bhp and 235Nm of torque. Like the Swift, the S-Cross also gets a vibrant 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support - but where it excels is in its added practicality.
Here, buyers will find a spacious rear bench with a tall roofline that promises to accommodate three average-sized adults quite comfortably. The car also comes with a well-sized 440-litre boot.
A tall and flat roofline and longer wheelbase means passengers should enjoy life in the S-Cross' rear quite a fair bit, while the car's 440-litre boot should dust off grocery runs with ease
As mentioned, however, it's not just sensible family cars the roadshow has on offer, but a special machine that should appeal to adventure-seekers too.
In a sea of compact crossovers that would prefer to stay on tarmac at all times, the Suzuki Jimny actually has the mechanical underpinnings to match its rugged looks. Apart from boasting 210mm worth of ground clearance, key pillars to its ability to go offroad include its four-wheel drive powertrain, and its low-range gearbox, which helps to provide more torque to the wheels at lower speeds.
