Hyundai has officially launched the new 2021 Elantra and Elantra Hybrid at The Lot Studios in West Hollywood.
The 2021 Elantra showcases Hyundai's latest ambitions, including a Sensuous Sportiness design identity, hybrid electric vehicle technology, and segment-first wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The new car now sports a four-door-coupe look and dimensions that make it longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor.
At the front, a parametric-jewel-pattern grille integrates the turn-signals, while the cascading grille now shares its architecture with the headlamps. At the rear, the tail lamps now create a 'H' logo-like shape, enhancing the coupe-like look.
Hyundai describes the interior of the Elantra as possessing an 'immersive cocoon' layout which envelops the driver like an airplane cockpit, with low, wide structures that go from the door all the way to the centre console.

For the first time ever, a hybrid powertrain has been added to the Elantra lineup.
The new Elantra Hybrid will feature a 1.6-litre GDI Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine. A 42bhp permanent-magnet electric motor is powered by a 1.32kWh lithium-ion-polymer battery to deliver a total system output of 137bhp and 264Nm of torque.

Non-hybrid Elantras in the U.S will receive a 2.0-litre Atkinson Cycle engine that also has a focus on fuel economy. This engine generates 145bhp and 178Nm of torque. The non-hybrid models are also projected to achieve a best-in-class EPA combined fuel economy rating thanks to Hyundai’s Intelligent continuously Variable Transmission.
U.S cars will come with Hyundai's SmartSense safety features, which include Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, as well as a Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance Assist, amongst many others.
Production of the 2021 Elantra will start in the third-quarter of 2020 in Ulsan, Korea and at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama plant.
