The 911 re-welcomes open skies with the 991 Carrera Cabriolet
27 Mar 2012|7,830 views
Just months after the launch of the 991 coupe, Porsche Centre Singapore is now graced by the drop-top variant - the new 911 Carrera Cabriolet. Similar to the coupe, the 991 Cabriolet will be available in both Carrera and Carrera S trims. What is new to the cabriolet is the re-designed soft top - now made up of three magnesium roof parts for better weight saving and structural integrity. Credits to where it is due: thanks to the new roof, the cabriolet now retains the coupe silhouette - the sloping tail-line that has become synonymous with the iconic 911 sportscar from Porsche. The Stuttgart marque has also managed to shave 45 kilograms off the new cabriolet, as compared with its predecessors, through the use of aluminium-steel composite for the chassis construction.
The new cabriolet inherits the engines from its coupe stablemates - a 3.4-litre flat-six delivering 350hp, and a 3.8-litre churning out 400hp in the 'S' variant. Standard to both variants is the all-new seven-speed manual gearbox, with Porsche's dual-clutch system (PDK) available as a cost option.
The 911 Carrera Cabriolet retails at S$ 420,274; 911 Carrera S Cabriolet at S$470,583, at press time (Prices include 5-year maintenance-free and warranty program, road tax and G.S.T., excludes COE)
