Both cars now come with a 7-speed DSG as standard. This highly efficient dual-clutch transmission is now fitted to 10 Volkswagen models sold in Singapore. Compared to its predecessor with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the new Jetta 1.6 DSG is 17 percent more economical overall. Its fuel consumption figure is now 6.8 L/100km in the combined driving cycle, with CO2 emissions of 159 g/km, down from 195 g/km.
Performance has been improved at the same time. The car’s top speed is 3 km/h higher at 186 km/h, while the 0-100 km/h time falls from 13.3 to 12.2 seconds. Like the Jetta 1.4 TSI and Jetta Sport 1.4 TSI, the 2010 Jetta 1.6 gets a host of interior upgrades. These include a new steering wheel, a revised instrument layout with white backlighting and a climate control system with two-level automatic control.
The 170bhp Touran Sport 1.4 TSI, previously fitted with a 6-speed DSG, also benefits from the new 7-speed DSG transmission. Its combined fuel consumption falls by 0.7 L/100km to 6.9 L/100km, with CO2 emissions correspondingly reduced from 181 g/km to 159 g/km.
Both the 2010 Jetta 1.6 and Touran Sport 1.4 TSI are available to order immediately. The recommended retail prices (with COE) are $79,800 and $103,300, respectively.
