In time for its 50th anniversary in 2026, Volkswagen will be launching a special model: The Golf GTI Edition 50, at the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, where it previously became the brand's fastest series production model on the Nordschleife track.
The Golf GTI Edition 50 is Volkswagen's fastest and most powerful GTI to date, and with the optional Performance package exclusively for the model, takes the GTI concept to a whole new level. A newly tuned DCC sports chassis, a finely adjusted front differential, and the high-precision progressive steering deliver enhanced dynamic performance in the anniversary model.
The package also comes with Potenza Race semi-slick tyres on 19-inch wheels, as well as a lightweight R-Performance exhaust system with rear silencer in titanium.
Interior highlights include red seat belts, sporty seats with check pattern, a line in Racing Green, and synthetic velour elements. The multifunction leather sports steering wheel features trim with the GTI 50 logo, and combined with it's integrated shift paddles, offer a real motorsport feeling.
Outside, the GTI 50 logo is placed on the roof spoiler and the insides of the exterior mirrors. Other exclusive features include special trim on the door sills, a roof with black paintwork, black exterior mirror housings, and black tailpipe trims on the exhaust system, as well as a striking side stripe on the side members with a colour gradient from black to Tornado red.
Five exterior colours are available for the Golf GTI Edition 50: Pure white, Moonstone grey, Grenadilla black metallic, and - exclusively for the anniversary model - Dark Moss green metallic and Tornado red.
Volkswagen will be equipping the Golf GTI Edition 50 with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering an output of 321bhp and 420Nm of torque. Its chassis has also been further refined and adapted to the higher power, with a MacPherson front axle and a four-link rear axle forming the basic layout.
Production of the Golf GTI Edition 50 is scheduled to start at the end of 2025, allowing Volkswagen to deliver the model to its customers promptly for the start of its anniversary year from Q1 2026.
