The last Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ has been delivered to a very lucky owner

The final Chiron Super Sport 300+, built as a tribute to the model that set a record breaking 490km/h top speed run, has now been delivered. This has thus marked an end to the limited production run of just 30 models.
So what enabled this particular Chiron to hit a speed that no other Chiron, or for that matter, no other car had been able to hit before?
It starts from the colossal 8.0-litre W16 Bugatti engine. In a pursuit of more speed, engineers reworked the barely underpowered engine which already churned out 1,479bhp, squeezing out another 99bhp, resulting in a total of 1,578bhp.
In order to cater to the engine's newfound power, Bugatti's engineers had to develop a new thermal management system for the hyper cars' engine and gearbox. Refinements to the software governing the engine, gearbox, powertrain and turbochargers were also made.
Raw power however, is nothing without control. In order to provide more stability for the record breaking Chiron's speed, the car's length was extended by approximately 250mm. This allowed aerodynamic stall to decrease by more than 40%. Air curtains adorning the hyper car's front corners also helped to disperse excess air pressure towards the car's sides.
Liberal use of exposed carbon fibre is also evident when looking at the bodywork of the Chiron Super Sport 300+. This was integral in cutting down weight of the rather lardy standard specification Chiron. Magnesium alloy wheels also contributed to further loss of weight.
Just like the legendary Bugatti Type 41 Royale and Type 57 SC that have gone before it, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ will be a car remembered by generations to come for its unparalleled performance.
