The new Citroen e-SpaceTourer all-electric MPV unveiled

The brand proves this point once again by unveiling the 100% electric version of its SpaceTourer - the new Citroen e-SpaceTourer.

A companion for a more intense life on the road - without emissions restrictions - the e-SpaceTourer is a large MPV that provides a tailored solution for professionals, communities, associations and extended families or groups of friends who want the benefits of comfortable, environmentally responsible and economical driving.

The Citroen SpaceTourer is a conventionally powered large MPV that allows five to nine people to travel without compromising on comfort, versatility and design.

Built on Groupe PSA's Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) multi-energy platform, the e-SpaceTourer will be offered in U.K. with the M body style, 230km of range under the Worldwide harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure, and a 50kWh lithium-ion battery pack with 18 individual modules.

The EMP2 platform allows the battery pack to be fitted under the floor - fully preserving the SpaceTourer's cabin and boot space, and hence its overall practicality. The warranty period for the battery is eight years or 160,000km for 70% of charging capacity. The electric motor is capable of 134bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. The maximum speed is 130km/h in all drive modes, Eco, Normal and Power, with each mode providing different levels of power output. The motor recovers energy under braking or during deceleration.

T wo energy recovery modes are available to the driver - 'Standard' for a feel close to that of a conventional engine and 'Enhanced' for increased deceleration when releasing the accelerator pedal. This latter mode is accessible via the 'Brake' button on the gearbox control.

The charging port is on the left-hand front wing on the e-SpaceTourer and charging operates when in Park mode. The e-SpaceTourer can be charged with mode 2 cable compatible with a standard domestic socket, mode 3 cable 32A cable that charges from zero to 100% in less than eight hours with a 7.4kW Wallbox, and mode 4 public charging point that can charge the 50kWh battery to 80% in 30 minutes.

Up to 74-litres of open and closed storage compartments are liberally distributed throughout the cabin. At the front, storage spaces like the lower glovebox come complete with features including an audio jack, 12V and USB sockets. Cup holders are positioned on either side of the dashboard and there are two large front door bins that can hold 1.5-litre bottles. Passengers in the second and third rows benefit from aircraft-style fold down trays, sun blinds and 12V and 220V sockets.

The new Citroen e-SpaceTourer offers three connected packages for maximum safety and comfort that are part of the Citroen Advanced Comfort programme - Connect Assist, Connect Nav and Connect Play.

Connect Assist ensures the safety of the driver and passengers with automatic activation of assistance & SOS. Connect Assist can be used to connect the MyCitroen app to the vehicle in order to obtain access to vehicle data such as state of charge, range, delayed charging, thermal pre-conditioning, parking location, mileage and next service.

The Connect Nav's 7.0-inch touchscreen can be controlled by voice recognition and is linked with various connected services. Users will also receive visual and audible warnings of dangerous areas for free for three years.

Connect Play offers seamless connection between smartphone and vehicle with screen mirroring, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Citroen e-SpaceTourer also offers a plethora of advanced driver assistance systems such as Active Safety Brake Hill Start Assist, Driver Attention Alert, Blind-spot Monitoring System, Coffee Break Alert, Collision Risk Alert and Reversing camera with Top Rear Vision amongst others.
