The Polestar 2 marks the first car from the Swedish brand to land on our shores

The Polestar 2 electric performance fastback has been launched in Singapore, marking the entrance of the Swedish premium electric performance brand, just months after Wearnes Automotive has been appointed as its exclusive distributor here.
While the Polestar 2 is the first car from the brand to land on our shores, the brand's first creation was a stunning limited-production plug-in hybrid, the Polestar 1. Polestar being a heavily design-centric company headed by a designer, is likely why they have been able to produce such appealing creations thus far.
It comes as no surprise that the Polestar 2 manages to portray such a titillating look, despite its largely minimalistic and clean-cut design.
Exterior lighting is a high point of the Polestar 2's design, with Pixel LED head lights featuring the 'Thor's Hammer' daytime running light signature capturing your initial attention, and the full-width wrap-around taillights completing the beauty of the car.
Everywhere else, this dynamic five-door fastback captures your attention with taut and modern lines - there aren't any unnecessary trims or fake vents to distract one from its simple and classy design.
The interior has been designed by the same ethos, resulting in a clean, contemporary interior that combines crisp Scandinavian architectural themes, together with dynamic proportions and a sporty presentation.
In line with Polestar's emphasis in sustainable mobility the interior features vegan materials as standard, all without compromising comfort, fit and finish.
Yet another point of emphasis for the Polestar 2 designers was making the car as simple and easy to drive and use. A 'floating' 11.15-inch display takes centre stage above the centre console, visible from even the most extreme angles.
Developed in collaboration with Google, the infotainment system in the Polestar 2 is the first in the world to be powered by the Android Automotive OS, featuring Google assistant, Google Maps and Google Play store built in. This Android Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is easy, intuitive, safe to use and significantly improves the user experience of automotive infotainment.
Operating the Polestar 2 is likewise, simplified. After approaching the car and unlocking the doors simply by pulling the door handle, the Android HMI would automatically come on, recognising the start of the journey.
There is no traditional start button to be found within, instead, all the driver needs to do is to apply the brake pedal upon sitting in the driver seat, close the door and select drive or reverse to begin driving.

The single motor options are available in a Long Range variant equipped with the 78kWh battery, and a Standard Range variant with a 69kWh battery, offering a range of up to 540km and 470km (WLTP) respectively.
Utilising more than five types of steel, from mile to ultra-high-strength boron, Polestar is able to achieve an uncompromised combination of stiffness, safety, durability and weight optimisation.
The use of Boron steel ensures the handling, ride comfort, low noise, vibration and harshness, and collision safety of the Polestar 2. The Polestar 2 has also been engineered with advanced active and passive safety features, including features including a total of eight airbags, battery protection in the case of accidents, and a full suite of driver assist safety functions.
The Long Range Dual Motor and Long Range Single Motor variants of the Polestar 2 will be available at launch, while the Standard Range Single Motor variant is expected to be available by the end of Q1 2022. An optional Performance Pack is available for the Long Range Dual Motor variant. This $16,000 option will include Ohlins DFV high-performance dampers, Brembo four-piston monoblock front calipers and 20-inch forged aluminium rims with performance tyres.
