This is the Audi A3 allstreet: A crossover-take on the A3

Audi seems to have recognised that crossovers are not going away.
Instead of sticking purely to its existing SUV range, however - including the likes of the Q3 and Q5 - the brand has decided to expand its high-riding lineup in another manner: By jacking up the A3 Sportback. The result is this tougher-looking, albeit resolutely city-centred car - the first ever Audi A3 allstreet - which was recently unveiled alongside the updated A3 Sportback and Sedan.
Interestingly, the A3 allstreet's debut comes after that of a modified version of its smaller sibling, the A1 Sportback. Back in 2019, the super-compact hatch had already been given similar crossover treatment in the form of the A1 citycarver - though it was quickly renamed to the A1 allstreet a couple of years later.
A number of differences separate the A3 allstreet from the A3 Sportback, though most notable and significant is the fact that the former gets 30mm more ground clearance. Apart from ostensibly increasing the ease of entering and exiting the vehicle, Audi says that this offers a more SUV-like driving experience.
The A3 allstreet also gets 17-inch wheels as standard - one size above those on the base trim of the A3 Sportback - though 18-inch and 19-inch wheels are also available as an option.
Interestingly, Audi says that it has adjusted the A3 allstreet's suspension specifically in tandem with the vehicle's higher centre of gravity. The car features specific spring/shock absorber tuning, targeted at balancing ride comfort and sporty driving.
True to its crossover identity, the A3 also gets lots of black plastic cladding lining its wheel arches, a front lip spoiler meant to resemble a skid plate, and its own unique rear bumper. Standard roof rails accentuate its rugged styling, and while its Singleframe grille is also frameless (as with those on the new A3 Sportback and Sedan), Audi says its matte black texture and higher positioning is meant to bring it closer to the brand's Q models.
Finally, the A3 allstreet also gets the same sort of laser engraving in its B-pillars that denote its special identity.
Things are largely the same as with the updated A3 Sportback and Sedan elsewhere. Like the twins, one of the exterior highlights on the A3 allstreet is the introduction of four selectable daytime running light signatures in the new headlight clusters.
The car also sports the same redesigned exterior, and the same fresh advancements in digitalisation, which now allow occupants to download third-party apps directly into Audi's native MMI infotainment system in lieu of using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Like the A3 Sportback, expect a versatile and practical - if not particularly large - space for hauling items too. The A3 allstreet comes with the exact same 380-litre boot, which can be expanded to 1,200 litres with the seats folded.

Don't be fooled into bringing the A3 allstreet into mud, though. While no mention has been made of it, it's likely the car will be driven purely by its front wheels. Audi has also not gone into any detail about specific drive modes for off-roading - and it's also worth noting that this is the A3 allstreet, and not the A3 allroad. The latter badging is given to higher-riding variants of the A4 Avant and A6 Avant - the A4 allroad and A6 allroad - both of which come with Quattro all-wheel drive, and adjustable suspension heights.
The A3 allstreet is set to go on sale in Europe with the option of two engine options - a 1.5-litre TFSI petrol engine, and a 2.0-litre TDI engine - at launch. Both engines produce 148bhp, and will be mated to Audi's seven-speed S tronic suspension.
Sadly, Sgcarmart understands from Audi Singapore that there are no plans to bring the model to our shores - although we should be able to look forward to the impending arrival of the updated A3 Sportback and Sedan, at an as-yet undisclosed date.
