Toyota showcases the FT-86 G Sports concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon

The FT-86 was first shown as a concept at last year's Tokyo Motor Show, and Toyota has confirmed that the FT-86 will headline a new series of sports and modified cars under the G Sports badge, in cooperation with Gazoo Motorsports.

The example displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon bears noticeable differences from the Tokyo Motor Show model, with a new turbocharger added to the 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine sourced from Subaru.

Toyota has also given the FT-86 a new body kit, with a wider front bumper that leads to wider wheel arches, a new front spoiler as well as a new carbon fibre bonnet with air vents. At the rear, the FT-86 gets a new boot spoiler and a new rear bumper with a diffuser that brings the dual exhaust pipes to the centre. 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza high performance tyres, and new Recaro sport seats complete the package.
