Train delay on East-West Line due to signalling fault at Aljunied station

Train services on the East-West line were delayed on Wednesday (14th December) during the morning peak due to a signalling fault at Aljunied MRT Station. SMRT in a tweet at 8:39am advised commuters to 'add 20 minutes of travel time between Pasir Ris and Outram Park'. It added that 'train services are still available', but advised commuters to refer to bus guides on its site for more details.
Said Valerie O in response to SMRT's tweet, "The number of faults remains truly baffling". Melissa Delilah tweeted that it had been '30 mins now...'. Netizens also took to SMRT's Facebook page to complain about the delay. Facebook user Matthew Seah wrote that he was 'freezing in the train' and 'could not move anywhere else because the cabin is crowded'.
SMRT said in an update at 9:02am that the fault was cleared, with trains 'progressively returning to normal speed'. It advised commuters to add 10 minutes' travel time between Pasir Ris and Outram Park MRT stations.
