According to Fiat, Euope, Fiat Automobiles is the brand that recorded the lowest average CO2 emission value for Fiat vehicles sold in 2007: 137.3 g/km.
This record was awarded by the company JATO, world leader for consultancy and research in the automotive field, set up in 1984 and present in more than 40 countries.
The JATO analysis placed the Fiat brand ahead of Peugeot (141.9 g/km), Citroen (142.2 g/km), Renault (146.4 g/km), Toyota (148.8 g/km), Ford (149.1 g/km), Opel/Vauxhall (152.9 g/km), Volkswagen (161.7 g/km), BMW (176.7g/km) and Mercedes (188.4 g/km).
Today, TTS Eurocars debuted their new Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 Multijet. Designed by Giugiaro, it measures over 4m, the biggest car in its class. The Grande Punto has been awarded 5-star Euro NCAP certification for passenger protection, as well as accolades such as the Auto Interamericana 2008, Scottish Small Car of the Year 2006, Golden Steering Wheel 2005 and Autocar Design Award 2005.
The new Multijet uses electronic control to divide the main injection into several smaller ones to achieve quieter combustion, reduced emissions and increased performance.
With a variable geometry turbocharger, the new 1248cc 16V Multijet found in the Grande Punto produces 90Bhp @ 4000rpm and a remarkable 200Nm @ 1750 rpm with very low emissions - something that might give the more powerful, but equally torquey Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI a little competition.
The Grande Punto 1.3 16V Multijet will be available in both manual and dualogic automatic transmissions, and will be on sale from tomorrow and priced at S$74900 for the manual and S$78900 for the dualogic automatic transmission.
