In a 30-minute qualifying session at Le Mans, the 21 prototypes in the top Hypercar class fought a thrilling battle for the best times, with two Porsche 963s from the Porsche Penske Motorsport factory team making it into the Hyperpole session, which took place on 12 June 2025.
While Frenchman Julien Andlauer manoeuvred the number five 963 into the two-part Hyperpole early on, finishing in sixth, brand colleague Felipe Nasr, in the number seven sister car, finished in the top 15 on his last timed lap. Kevin Estre set the fourth-fastest time in the number six race car. However, the car was subsequently placed to the back of the Hypercar grid as it was below the required minimum weight, which meant Nasr moved up one place.
Swiss racer Neel Jani was the qualifying driver in the Porsche 963 of the Proton Competition customer team, which finished the session in 19th place.
