Volkswagen has turned the wick right up to 11 on the Golf.
And the outcome, as you see here, is this new brightly coloured Lime Yellow Metallic car, with its output raised to a total of 328bhp (333hp) to match the output from the Golf R '20 years' edition. Called the Golf R 333 Limited Edition, only a total of 333 examples will be built, the first few examples of which will be handed over to their lucky customers at an event in Wolfsburg in October 2023.
The Golf R 333 Limited Edition gets black 19-inch Estoril rims as well as an Akrapovic R Performance exhaust system This raised output comes courtesy of an optimised engine tuning, which also raises peak torque fo the special edition car to a total of 420Nm.
For some comparison, the power and torque output of the Cupra Leon Sportstourer stands just shy of the figures of the Golf R 333 Limited Edition, at 306bhp and 400Nm.
Volkswagen states the Golf R 333 Limited Edition will hit 100km/h from a standstill in just 4.6 seconds.
Handling, meanwhile, is assured thanks to the use of the firm's R-Performance Torque Vectoring with Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which distributes the drive power not just between the front and rear axles but also between the two rear wheels.
The car will also offer the dedicated 'Drift' and 'Special' driving profiles we saw on the Golf R '20 years' edition, the latter specially designed to optimise the car for the various climbs and dips of the Nurburgring racetrack.
These will pair will with the R Performance exhaust system from Akrapovic, as well as the 19-inch Estoril rims, and the various black exterior elements as well as the '333' logos along its sides.
The cabin of the Golf R 333 Limited Edition additionally features sport seats in nappa leather as well as a Harman Kardon sound system which is said to sport a total of 8+1 loudspeakers delivering a 480W total output.
