Volkswagen has announced that with the upcoming ID. Polo, it will focus on familiar strengths: Intuitive operation, functionality, quality, and affordability.
At the same time, the ID. Polo is the first model to feature the new "Pure Positive" design language, with the result being a compact electric model offering more space and precise driving characteristics on the level of the next higher class of vehicle. It will also be the first model in the electric ID. family to bear the established Volkswagen name Polo.
Upon its debut in Q2 2026, the ID. Polo will be available in three power outputs: 85kW, 99kW, and 155kW, with the sporty ID. Polo GTI (166kW) following later in the year. The 85kW and 99kW versions will come with a standard 37kWh battery offering up to 90kW of DC charging, while the 155kW and 166kW versions will feature a 52kWh battery offering up to 130kW of DC charging and ranges of up to 450km.
The ID. Polo will also feature a newly developed front-wheel drive and is based on the further developed Modular Electric Drive Matrix: MEB+. The completely new, highly efficient electric drive reduces complexity, the number of components, and weight. Key modules include a highly efficient Volkswagen electric motor of the latest generation, called APP 290.
Compared to the classic Polo, the ID. Polo offers increased boot space (435 litres, up from 351 litres), which goes up to 1,243 litres (up from 1,125 litres) with the rear seatbacks folded down.
Volkswagen has also said that this is just the beginning; the brand also plans to launch six new electric models following the ID. Polo's debut.
