The Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group have announced that they will be expanding their e-mobility partnership.
Ford will utilise the Volkswagen Group's Modular Electric Toolkit (MEB) to produce two upcoming all-electric crossovers, set to be manufactured at Ford Electrification Center in Cologne, Germany. To this end, increased collaboration with Volkswagen has been demanded as the original plans only saw Ford producing one model based off the MEB platform.
The total number of vehicles to be built of the MEB platform has also been increased from an initial 600 thousand to 1.2 million.
Volkswagen is also currently working on a future Scalable Systems Platform which will already have the fact that it will be used and shared with Volkswagen partners taken into account as part of its development process.
