Volkswagen introduces BlueMotion to the Scirocco and Passat CC

Volkswagen's BlueMotion technology includes features such as a stop/start system and regenerative braking which help to reduce fuel consumption and increase efficiency, and the German carmaker has now applied them to the Scirocco and Passat CC.

All Scirocco diesel models will now come with BlueMotion. For the Scirocco 2.0 TDI model, there is now a 6-speed manual transmission, which reduces fuel consumption to just 4.5 litres per 100km, lower than an equivalent model with the 6-speed DSG gearbox. The same has been applied to the Scirocco 2.0 GT TDI, which now returns 5.1 litres per 100km.

For the Passat CC meanwhile, the introduction of BlueMotion technology onto the Passat CC 2.0 TDI model drops fuel consumption to 4.7 litres per 100km, an improvement from 5.6 litres per 100km previously. As with the Scirocco, all diesel powered Passat CC models now come with BlueMotion technology.
