Volkswagen reportedly in contemplation for up! based crossover

According to a recent report from German business publication Handelsblatt, Volkswagen is planning to introduce an up! crossover, following the favourable reactions received from pulling the wraps off the Cross Up! concept.  When asked for comment, a spokesperson declined to confirm the rumors but said "We look at everything. SUVs are very interesting."

Regardless, the manager at the Slovakian factory that makes the up! told reporters that the platform was designed to underpin a family of vehicles, not just a single model. This gives further credence to the claims that the crossover might be built after all and it might not be too long for the fans to find out.
