Volkswagen reveals first photos of the ID.7 Tourer

Volkswagen has unveiled the first photos of a still-camouflaged ID.7 sporting an estate body.
Set to be called the ID.7 Tourer (a departure from the more common use of the 'variant' or 'shooting brake' names used by Volkswagen to denote the estate body), the new body option comes just after the reveal of the ID.7 Sedan in April 2023.
Volkswagen states that the ID.7 Tourer is set to sport nearly the same aerodynamic efficiency as the ID.7 Sedan, with a drag coefficient of 0.242 (the same figure for the sedan stands at 0.234). As expected of an estate, the ID.7 will also deliver on interior space. The ID.7 Tourer is said to offer a total boot space of 545 litres (the ID.7 offers 532 litres of space here), which expands to a total of 1,714 litres if the rear seats are folded down. The MEB platform's (on which this ID.7 is based) placement of the car's wheels at the four corners of the car no doubt also aids to maximise available interior space here.
Volkswagen will produce the Volkswagen ID.7 at its Emden plant, which produces models including the ID.4 electric SUV as well as the Arteon fastback. Expect the model to make its global debut and European launch come 2024.
