Volvo has appointed a new Head of Global Sustainability as it prepares to phase out production of diesel cars and prepares to only sell all-electric vehicles by 2030.
The firm has appointed Vanessa Butani to the new post, effective from 1 April 2024. Butani succeeds Anders Karrberg, who is retiring after having established the firm's Global Sustainability Team in 2019.
Butani comes to Volvo Cars after having previously served as Vice President of Group Sustainability at global appliance company Electrolux Group. She is said to have developed the group's sustainability platform and helped it to achieve its first science-based targets while working there.
The firm announced in December 2023 that it planned to reduce its CO2 emissions per car by 75% by 2030 compared to the 2018 baseline.
