Volvo Cars unveils updated XC60

Volvo has taken the covers of its refreshed XC60 SUV, which is claimed to offer even greater comfort and a better user interface.
Exterior-wise, the most obvious change is the new grille/air intake that features crossed diagonal lines, and taillights that now come in a darker finish. There are also new wheel designs, and two new paint finishes: Forest Lake and Aurora Silver. Mulberry Red, which was previously only available on the XC90 and EX90, is now an option for the XC60.
Inside, the carmaker has worked to further lift the cabin by introducing a mix of refreshed decors and inlays. Premium materials, such as Quilted Nordico and Navy Herringbone Weave, are used here. Volvo says they "offer a more exclusive and contemporary experience".
The new XC60 has a better wireless phone charger, and new cupholders, too. Volvo claims the SUV has an even quieter cabin, which should complement available audio systems, such as the one from Bowers & Wilkins that features a new speaker mesh design.
To ensure passengers' well-being, the XC60 is equipped with the brand's advanced air purification technology. The model can now be specified with air suspension and laminated windows as well.
The infotainment system has been given a boost, too. Users can interface with it on a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen, which, thanks to a 21% increase in pixel density, has crisper-looking graphics compared to the previous one.
More importantly, the new user experience promises to be more focussed and personalised than its predecessor. It comes bundled with several Google services as well.
Powering the infotainment system is a next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform that can generate graphics 10 times quicker than before. It is also twice as fast as the outgoing system, further heightening responsiveness.
According to Wearnes Automotive, Volvo's official agent in Singapore, the XC60 is scheduled to arrive either "end Q3 or early Q4" this year.
