Volvo ends production for C30 because of poor sales

Volvo has put an end to the production of the C30. Introduced back in 2006 (it has been that long already?), the C30 was derived from the SCC concept car as an entry level model from the Swedish marque. The C30 came to the motoring scene with its interesting youthful design and an alternative approach to the premium hatchback segment.

Safe became cool thanks to the C30. Unfortunately starting early this year, Volvo stopped selling the C30 in Europe, and has withdrawn from the North American market as well. This is surprising as the C30 failed to create sales numbers. The Volvo V40 - its spiritual successor - has already been introduced in Europe but leaves the void empty for the US market. A product expansion with a three door version could be made to replace the C30.

Currently Volvo in US is offering a limited 250 units of the C30 Polestar Limited Edition with a stronger 2.5-litre turbo good for 250bhp and 369Nm of torque, and a list of optional equipment fitted as standard.
