27 Oct 2023|272 views
Volvo has announced that it will be producing the all-electric EX30 at its Ghent plant in Belgium starting from 2025. The firm states that the move is being motivated by the strong demand for the car, prompting it to expand production capacity for the small crossover.
Production of the Volvo EX30 started in the third-quarter of 2023 in Zhangjiakou, China, and the first cars are scheduled to reach customers later this year. The EX30s produced from the Ghent site will meet expected demand for the car in Europe and will also be exported globally, reflecting Volvo Cars' ambition to build its cars where it sells them as much as possible.
The firm expects the EX30 to be one of its best-selling models in the coming years, and it states that its approach of building cars where there is demand for them is a proven strategy, with the XC60 and XC40 being produced both in China and Europe.
The EX30 is the firm's third fully-electric model to be produced in Europe, and will join both the XC40 and C40 on the Ghent production line.
